Web Hosting is 40% Cost allocation reflects eligible component |

The Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), the independent company processing applicants for the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), announced that this year's Eligible Services List (ESL) states some changes and clarifications that school districts need to be aware of before applying for discounts. Web Hosting provisions have become more specific under the Internet Access Category, and USAC is seeking allocation delineation between eligible and ineligible components. The Foundation for Educational Services, the provider of SOCS, has cost allocated the Web hosting component as 40% of the total license agreement. SOCS Email services, however, are completely funded under FCC guidelines. The E-rate filing window for Form 471 is open until February 7. While other companies offering content management systems may claim they are fully funded, we encourage applicants to thoroughly review the eligibility list before starting the process of filing.
